Iris McConnell (b. 1998, London, UK) is an artist and musician from London currently studying on the MFA Fine Art programme at Goldsmiths University. Prior to this she graduated from City and Guilds of London Art School in Fine Art (2021-2024). Working across sculpture, drawing, printmaking, painting, and installation, Iris unpacks the complexities and paradoxes of things she loves. Creating with the exuberance that comes with play, her practice is centered around surreal observation, often using human/non-human relationships as a basis to talk about infantilisation, desire, and power dynamics. In exploring the outsourcing of our emotional dependencies to non-human beings, she is interested in what happens when humans interfere with evolution, and in particular what those new forms of companionship mean for society.
